Eating foods in their closest-to-natural form possible—avoiding refined foods, artificial sweeteners, and chemical food additives will help you feel better and reach your optimal weight. To achieve this balance, you’ve got to stick with it!
Eating this way helps your body purge stored up toxins and begin to regenerate. Remember the phrase, “You are what you eat”? If you’ve been eating low-quality foods, the tissues in your body have been impacted and are also low quality. When you are eating whole natural foods, your body makes new high-quality tissues and gets rid of the old low-quality tissues. As this is happening, you may feel worse before you feel better. Don’t give up by misinterpreting symptoms and body changes.
Be aware that as you gradually raise your food quality, cleansing symptoms begin to appear reflecting that your body is responding to an improved diet. While most people make the transition to processed-free eating easily, others may experience temporary withdrawal symptoms that can range from mild to briefly uncomfortable. Any withdrawal symptoms are typically short lived, usually occurring within the first few days to generally not more than 10-12 days. It’s helpful to realize that this can occur so that these normal symptoms won’t sideline your efforts.
This Monday at the Processed-Free Living Support Group meeting, we will be discussing what symptoms to expect when you improve your diet and offering many tips to help relieve withdrawal symptoms that are normal. One tip, for example, is to pay attention to your digestion.
A simple technique for relieving digestion issues is to learn about optimal food combining. We will introduce the concept: “Food Combining 101”, this will help you keep your body’s health balanced throughout the entire holiday season and beyond!
