“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” Psalm 46:1 NLT
I don’t know another way to say this, so I’m going to just shoot straight. Sometimes I feel like screaming. I have had one of those weeks—feeling overwhelmed and overscheduled. So, I went for a peaceful walk around the lake near our home. When I take time to enjoy God’s creation, I release some of life’s frustrations.
As I walked, I noticed a family of ducks along the water’s edge, each one clearly panicked. I saw the mother frantically tuck her ducklings under her wings. Thankfully, her gentleness and comfort quickly made her babies calm and quiet.
I wasn’t sure why they were so afraid, but soon realized they were sitting near a construction site and the noisy surroundings caused fear and panic in their little world.
We often face scary circumstances and instantly worry. We let fear overtake our peace. We forget we have a Father who does not want us to be overcome with worry or live in fear. He wants us to dwell in the safety of His shelter—to rest under His wings (Psalm 91:4).
You may go through things you’ll never understand, but trust God is there ready to cover you with His wings. He offers words of hope and encouragement to help overcome circumstances we face.
How can you take time to enjoy His presence, through creation or His Word, in order to rest in His peace today?
