The Purple Potato

If you’re a potato lover but stopped eating potatoes due to their reputation for causing weight gain, I have good news for you! Potatoes have gotten a bad rap, but I personally enjoy them regularly. Here’s one reason I do:

A baked potato can have a number of important benefits but if you cut them into strips and deep fry them in unhealthy oils at super high temperatures you are eating (toxic) french fries with next to zero nutrients.

Dr. Axe states, “The health benefits (of purple potatoes) are similar to what the popular nutrient-rich providers broccoli, spinach and Brussels sprouts provide.”

Enjoying purple potatoes are similar to eating broccoli, spinach and Brussels sprouts!

Can I get an amen?!

Purple potatoes are packed with high-antioxidant and disease-fighting phytonutrients that work together to offer amazing health benefits, such as reducing inflammation. Most of our aches, pains, and weight gain are linked to inflammation. They also regulate blood sugar levels, making it an excellent choice to add to any high blood pressure treatment plan.

I am a believer in eating food as close to nature as possible—the way God intended. I slice the potatoes, lay them on a baking mat or in a casserole dish then season with salt, pepper, and garlic. Then bake at 350 degrees or until done. I also boil them and mash them with garlic whole organic milk (or milk alternative) and sea salt and pepper to taste. (Great idea for little people!)

So, next time you want to enjoy a super spud, choose purple potatoes and enjoy it as God intended.
