As a groom is delighted with his bride, So your God will delight in you. Isaiah 62:5b (GNT)
Last summer, I had the honor of attending my nieces’ wedding. It was such a beautiful sight to watch her groom eagerly wait for her to walk down the aisle. He could not hide his anxious excitement, his joy. The second he saw her, his smile grew even wider. That cracked my heart wide open. The love displayed as she walked toward him, ready to begin their lives as one.
Isaiah 62:5 tells us that God delights in us just as a groom delights in his bride. He is full of joy and cannot stop smiling as we walk toward him. He is excited to spend time with us, as he enjoys our beauty—inside and out.
It’s hard to remember that I am His beautiful bride. I get too hung up on my self, my insecurities. I lose my peace and feel unsettled. I don’t feel good enough, worthy to be in His presence and it can leave me feeling empty. I don’t want to be an empty woman. I suspect you don’t either.
I love that Scripture reminds us that God is waiting for me, in all my beauty, to have a life with Him. I cannot explain how this moves me. I am His bride and He loves me—inside and out.
Lord, I am in awe that you delight in me, that you want to be with me.
