I don’t know about you, but I’m so happy that God’s mercies are new every morning. It gives me a fresh start—I feel brand new and clean every morning! We always have good intentions to be clean and pure, but our lives as humans seem to get in the way.
It’s the same with eating. We have good intentions to eat well all day but somewhere along our day we seem to stray off track. That’s why every morning I have a warm cup of lemon water. It helps me detox the liver of anything I put in my body—intentional or not.
The liver is our main fat-burning organ, and needs to remain clean and healthy in the body. We can do little things throughout the day to help cleanse and regenerate the liver. One of them is drinking warm lemon water.
We want the liver to do the job God designed it to do—to be a fat-burning organ and not a fat-storing one!
While we are sound asleep our liver is working overtime cleaning out the toxins we put in from the day. So the best thing you can do to help the liver do it’s job is to give it a little extra cleansing first thing in the morning. Many of the toxins in our bodies are released during first thing in the morning, and drinking lemon water helps flush more of them out.
Your cup of lemon water should be the temperature of a cup of tea but not boiling hot. You should be able to drink it down—not so hot that you have to sip it. If it’s too hot it will destroy the vitamin C. I usually do at least a half of a lemon, more if they are small. If it’s too tart, it’s okay to add some stevia or cinnamon (those benefits will be covered in a future post).
Other citrus fruits, such as limes, work, but lemon works the best, so it’s is my favorite choice.
